Classical Journey: Episode 34 - Yuletide Fantasia (2)

We are well into the Yuletide, concerts are being held all over the world to celebrate the nativity of Jesus Christ. The significance of the marking of Jesus’ birth is indeed captured in the third stanza of the original five stanzas of Charles Wesley’s Hark! Today, we will listen to Mendelssohn who gave the music to Hark! The Herald Angels Sing as well as G. F. Handel, Franz Gruber, Arcangelo Corelli, Jester Hairston, Francesco Manfredini, and Ariel Ramirez.
